New Start

I have had a bit of startitis lately. I started the Samsarah ornament from the JCS 2007 ornament preview issue on Weeks Dye Works 30 count Cocoa linen and my own threads, GAST Cranberry, Mulberry, and Crescent Colours Bamboo, Weeping Willow, and Black Coffee. I have buttons on order for this ornament as well, two stars and a red cardinal.

I have learned I really do not like working with Weeks Dye Works threads. They just seem to lay differently than other threads.

I have also learned to like Weeks Dye Works 30 count linen. I used to feel the weave was too loose, but after putting a piece in a Q-snap, that seems to be the trick, keeping the fabric as taut as possible. Such gorgeous colors in this fabric!

Until next time...

Mishmash

This post is full of lots of things, stitching, family, stash purchases, movies, books.

First up is stash purchases.  I purchased these two boxes at AC Moore not too long ago, one to hold my scrapbooking supplies and one for cross stitch fabric.  I love them both and they were both about $10 each.

Next up, stitching!  I started working on Glory Bee's ornament from the 2003 JCS ornament issue.  I am using all different threads and fabric than listed in the pattern.  When I post a pic of the finished product I will list the fabric and floss I used.

And, finally, family pics.  I was over my mother's Sunday evening for the Pittsburgh Steelers v. Baltimore Ravens game, and my sister was donning her usual silliness.

Yes, that is a ninja vest on from her Halloween costume and she has a lacrosse stick stuck in the back of it!!!  LOL.

This is actually a pair of 3-D glasses and the thing she is holding shines pictures of fireworks on the wall, and the glasses make them look 3-D.  It was really cool!!!

And this one we laughed forever about.  Those things on her eyes are sticky eyeballs that will crawl down a wall.  The things people come up with!!

And other little tidbits, I am reading The Night Strangers by Chris Bohjalian.  A creepy and disturbing book.  I love it!!  I only have about 40 pages to go, so I will finish tonight.  If you would like to be my friend on Goodreads, go here

And have any of you seen the preview for the movie The Sessions, starring Helen Hunt?  It is about a guy that has been in an iron lung for most of his life due to polio he had as a kid, and he wants to lose his virginity, so he hires a sex therapist, Helen Hunt.  The movie looks funny and touching.  Definitely a must see!!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!  Today I will be watching my favorite Thanksgiving movie, Home For The Holidays, and of course A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving!!

Until next time...

Question about JCS ornament issues

I am trying to complete my collection of both JCS ornament and JCS ornament preview issues.

Does anyone know the first year the previous ornament issues started?

I am pretty sure the first ever ornament issue was 1997, but someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Walker bag has arrived!

Got my Walker bag in today's mail! Wahoo!!

Progress!

I finished the top part of the border for LK 6 Fat Men this morning.

And here is my progress on the SamSarah Perpetual Calendar.  The first leaflet is for January.  I work on this every evening for about half an hour or so.  At this rate I will be finished the whole thing, oh, say, in 2016!!!

I have to say stitching with white thread has always been a pain.  It just does not seem to lay as nicely as other color threads.  Maybe it is just me.

Until next time...
